Opening Song: 「バイバイ」 Bye Bye by 7!!↴
So the episodes begins with meeting the childhood friends. We have a long haired boy who is known as Shun Matsuoka, at the start he’s being genuinely aloof watching the cherry blossoms until his friends show up. Kaname Tsukahara who is the dark haired one with the glasses, and finally the twins Yuki and Yuta Asaba, they all look towards the sky then a voiceover from Shun saying that they are entering there second year of Highschool. The four friends have successfully arrived at school it appears its dinner time and Kaname goes and buys a can of tea from a vending machine, this triggers Yuki and Yuta to mess with him saying “Must be nice to be a rich kid” with Kaname saying is it wrong to buy this tea from a vending machine since he has so much Barley tea at home he wants a change. Eventually they all go up to the roof, and eat there lunch however Kaname doesn’t since he doesn’t want the sand to get into his bento once again Yuta and Yuki tease him and Shun offers Kaname some of his sandwiches however Kaname declines the offer.
Afterwards after all the friends have finished eating, Shun decides he wants his hair doing so he asks Yuta to brush his hair for him, meanwhile Kaname is arguing with Yuki about him finding a club to join since the only club he’s a member of is the going home club. This leads to a flashback of when the four were younger during a naptime in pre-school apparently the person who sleeps in the middle has their lifespan cut in half and they die younger. Therefore Yuki and Yuta decide they should ask Kaname to come over so that there are four people, so with Shun and Kaname sleeping on the edge and Yuki and Yuta sleeping in the middle, however Yuki and Yuta because they are twins believe that they are one person so they’re both going to die, eventually they work it out however then their pre-school Kaori-sensei joins them as she thinks that they are having trouble sleeping and she falls asleep beside Kaname who has a crush on her. However Shun is still scared of sleeping since he will die younger so Kaname offers to swap places with him thus the flashback ends.
Kaname then tells Yuki that he should seriously think about joining a club, thus they take him to have a practice with the basketball club, despite being forced into this Yuki just wanders around the court aimlessly until Kaname tells him to take it seriously so Yuki then amazingly ends up being fantastic at basketball but apparently working as a single unit rather than a team, Yuta explains to Kaname that Yuki has extremely fast reflexes but if he was really trying he’d be a professional and Kaname and Shun are shocked apparently Yuki now has some fans who watched him. They go to the Judo club and the same thing happens this leads to a scene in Yuki and Kaname’s classroom where there teacher Azuma-sensei asks them what’s wrong this leads him to explain that there is not only sports clubs there are other types of clubs that Yuki may be interested in. When they are walking towards the other clubs Shun says why not let Yuki join the cooking club however Yuta explains that during middle school a bunch of girls asked Yuki to help peel potatoes Yuki managed to peel at least ten on his own and after he finished starting waving the knife around trying to give it back to the girls. Kaname says that Yuki is very dangerous and Yuki insists that he meant no harm to them they then decide to visit the tea ceremony club in which Shun and Yuta are apart of and it turns out that Yuki doesn’t like that either. Whilst in the tea ceremony room Yuki is reading manga and Kaname has a go at him for doing so only for Kaname to realise that Yuki likes anime and manga and then promptly sends him off to join the club.

Preview: The Day the Tulips Bloomed
Well I have been waiting for this adaption for quite a while, that only 3 weeks ago I read the entire manga in full anticipation to see what this adaption would accomplish and for one I was not the least bit disappointed. Some people may think that this episode was boring compared to some of the other anime airing this season, but I wholeheartedly disagree even though the premiere episode was very slow paced I felt that it gave us the fans of the manga exactly what we were hoping for in terms of development. However in all respects if the pacing was faster than I may not have liked it since the whole point of the anime is to show the friendship between Kaname, Shun, Yuki and Yuta.
This 1st episode used the first chapter of the manga created by Hotta Kiichi, you saw the past of Kaname, Shun, Yuki and Yuta (they were so adorable as kids in kindergarten). So now I feel that I should talk about the episode and how I felt about it, so it’s spring and the 4 friends are in their 2nd year of High School and its the first time that Kaname and Yuuki have been in the same class. For some uncanny reason I can see why Yuuki is always by himself and chooses to ignore people around, being as I’m like that myself. Whereas Shun and Yuta are in the same class.
The opening and ending songs by 7!! & Miku Sawai I felt fitted beautifully with the whole concept of the anime and thus made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside since this show is designed to make people relate to the friendship of Kaname, Shun, Yuki and Yuta.
Tsukahara Kaname (Ono Yuuki) he is in the same class as Yuuki and is in the Student Council he is easy to shout at either one of the twins since they annoy him to no end. Kaname is also the top student in his class and he often comes across as blunt but in reality he is a very nice person.
Matsuoka Shun (Toyonaga Toshiyuki) he is the bishounen in the series he is mostly mistaken for a girl and is the mediator between Kaname and the twins he’s a member of the Tea Ceremony Club. He has a good-natured personality and is naive.
Asaba Yuki (Kimura Ryohei) he is the youngest of the twins he less talkative twin. He has a very deadpan manner much like his twin and is considered a loner to Kaname. He loves manga and anime has amazing reflexes and hand-eye coordination (which he says he owes to video games) and is consequently very good at athletics, but only puts in any effort when there is something in it for him. He is a member of the Manga Club.
Asaba Yuta (Uchiyama Kouki) he is the oldest of the twins and is a direct opposite of Yuki he is more talkative and easier to get along with. Yuta parts his fringe in the middle unlike Yuki. It is shown that Yuta often speaks for Yuki at times, and he really cares for his brother he is the leader of the two and his and Yuki’s constant dry remarks tend to get on Kaname’s nerves. He is also a member of the Tea Ceremony Club like Shun.
Right I always tend to ramble on and on so it may get annoying sorry where was I so this episode basically told us that regardless of teaching at school it is really important that High school students in Japan must join a club, seeing as this was dedicated to Yuki (my favourite character of the series) Kaname trying to force him to join a club was pretty ridiculous since all Yuki cared about was how much he can piss off Kaname. In general I found the bit about the person who sleeps in the middle has a shorter life expectancy than the person who doesn’t and that it was the twins idea to get Kaname to sleep with them during naptime in Kindergarten. Kaname was cute as a child especially since we found out he had a crush on Kaori-sensei. Yuta and Yuki seem to have always been pretty devious (they remind me of Hikaru and Kaoru in that retrospect), as they were the ones to force Kaname to sleep in the middle instead of Shun. Shun on the other hand almost swayed me from Yuki to be my favourite character his naivety is so adorable but alas I like twins better so unfortunately Yuki is still no.1 in my book.
During the course of the episode we were able to delve into some of the past of Yuki it turns out that during middle school he was asked to peel some potatoes by some girls in his class and after he peeled about 10 or so he tried to give the knife back to them but was waving it at them, that part had me in stitches as I can imagine the looks on the girls face and also Kaname it turns out that Yuki is pretty dangerous because he doesn’t know much about the right way to return things to people. After much consideration I feel that if I were to sum up the premiere episode of Kimi to Boku I would say HILARIOUS and Insightful I know this premise as been done countless times before but this time its a gender swap its 4 guys instead of 4 girls and thus this piqued my interest it was really worth my time watching this anime adaption of a highschool friends manga that is why I gave it full marks in enjoyment. Before I forget I nearly cried with laughter at when Yuta went to the Tea Ceremony club with everyone and had to drink out of the same cup as Kaname he was trying so hard to not touch the part of the cup that Kaname had because he didn’t want an indirect kiss with him (if I was Kaname this is the point where I would dig myself a hole and not come out of it poor Kaname).
Personal Enjoyment: 5/5.
