Summary:

After finishing off April, Hei turns his attention to Suō as he tries to get the meteor core from her still thinking that she is Shion. However, Suō temporarily blinds him with the flash on her camera, before he can chase her, yet another contractor attacks. Apparently Hei has his hands full fighting the female contractor meanwhile Suō is able to escape with the urging of a mysterious voice. Given this, both Hei and the unnamed female disengage. Meanwhile, Suō is approached by a very strange man who is trying extremely hard to be friendly with her, but Suō is suspicious of him and manages to flee with the help of her squirrel.

Suō then establishes her way through the woods; however see spots someone walking in the distance. Much to her astonishment, it’s Shion but he hurries away. Unable to return home, Suō tries to go to her friend’s house but there memories have already been erased. Luckily she manages to collide into Nika who had just recently escaped from hospital before his memories were erased, and Suō is obviously happy to see him and hugs him. Both Nika and Suō are able to find shelter in an old shack, that Nika uses and after being depressed for a bit, Suō decides to do something a bit more productive; she begins to make some posters of Hei with the picture she took when she temporarily blinded him.

Following day, Hei notices the wanted posters all across the town which are stating that he is a marriage swindler, however he eventually finds Suō by herself. Hei ignores the posters, and demands that Suō hands over the meteor core, he promises her that she will live if she complies with his wishes. However she doesn’t as she feels that all contractors are liars and with this she screams eventually Hei has had enough and begins to search her he inadvertently gropes her chest. During the height of emotion, Suō decides that she will try and pry some answers out of Hei regarding Shion and why he killed her father and Bella. Hei replies to the questions that are given to him he explains that he’s a Contractor, Suō then wonders what it means to be a contractor and why there are people like him and Shion. A flashback occurs of hei and Yin, but everything is interrupted by the arrival of the Russians.

Apparently they aren’t the only ones that show up because August 7 appears, and by the looks of it his Contractor power allows him to reflect the bullets back that the Russians have fired at him. In mist to all of this Hei’s only option is to escape with Suō but his plan doesn’t go accordingly as August 7 chases after them. It appears that the Russians are in hot pursuit too, but they are stopped by the very same Contractor that tried to be friendly with Suō earlier. Apparently August 7’s allies have set up some traps, and ultimately after Hei defeats August 7 the trap is activated and it surrounds Hei in a bubble and by the looks of it electrocutes him.

There happens to be side-effect of the device as it reacts with the pendant around Suō’s neck and because of that she is able to see a little bit of Hei’s past; which was him chasing after Yin who then bids him a farewell. Around the same time, Misaki is somewhere gazing at the stars with a telescope when suddenly she happens to notice BK-201 fade away.

Personal Opinion:

So I think I should mention the opening for this series. The opening is called “Tsukiakari no Michishirube” by Stereopony. Well I actually liked the opening sequence for the series, even though it primarily focused on Suō, I guess you could say that is a good indication as to what the direction the series is going in. Although I would’ve liked to see some Hei & Yin in it but the song was mellow and fitted in with flow of the show. Oh thought I should mention the ending that was shown in the episode last week was just temporary as they just wanted to delay the not so known fact that Suō will be Hei’s partner for the series, instead of Yin.

In short I enjoyed this episode thoroughly, especially since the episode ended with a bang, and the entire Yin scene explained a great deal as to why we haven’t seen much of her during this season. However in my opinion it is highly unlikely that they killed her off as she is one of the main characters, but it is stating the obvious that she isn’t around to help Hei out so it could be that he is searching for her or something along the lines of that.

There was something that I did notice though that Mao is now back it wasn’t just speculation from last week’s episode about the black cat. Apparently the voice that told Shion to runaway at the beginning of the episode belonged to Mao’s voice actor Sawaki Ikuya, he’s listed in the credits as just 声 (voice).

The most exciting things in this episode was the fact that we the viewers were able to see all new Contractor powers and remunerations, one of the ones that specifically got my attention was with Hazuki Mina. Given the fact that the humour and likeability of her, Genma and Youko, I can probably assume they’ll be reoccurring good guys. This is a big contrast to August 7 who ended up being creepier than I had originally expected but nevertheless, I found his Contractor power original and it excited me.

The epilogue at the beginning of the episode was beautifully encased as it didn’t only show Hei’s star disappearing but also that Misaki still is as obsessed with him as she was in the original DtB series. So can you tell me, what the odds are that she happened to have her telescope pointing in the exact direction as Hei’s star when it faded away?

Personal Enjoyment: 5/5
