Bleach 233 – Zangetsu Becomes an Enemy   2 comments

Summary:

Picking up immediately where the last episode finished, after being told that Muramasa is a zanpakutō, Muramasa sends Sode no Shirayuki away. Here we find out why Muramasa wants all zanpakutō to rule over the shinigami. However, he doesn’t state a reason to his opposed theory, Muramasa replies somewhat nonchalantly that zanpakutō can separate themselves from the shinigami despite them being apart of the shinigami’s soul. Muramasa is an extremely good example of this. Ichigo can not atone to his view and goes ahead and attacks him. Muramasa, results to illusions which overpower and overwhelm Ichigo, the trick pins him to the ground. This is where Muramasa talks to Zangetsu and proceeds to forcefully pull him out of Ichigo. After Zangetsu emerges he immediately attacks Ichigo.

Meanwhile, over in the 12th division headquarters, Mayuri begins to experiment on himself in order to research how the zanpakutō manifest. Back to the fight, it appears that Zangetsu beat Ichigo, however Ichigo emerges in the smoke as his hollow self and surprisingly turns the fight around. Zangetsu explains to Muramasa that it’s Ichigo’s other soul. After a while, Ichigo’s hollow self manages to successfully transform into it’s true hollow form, and makes easy work of Zangetsu. However, Muramasa tries to pull of a sneak attack but is unsuccessful, as the hollow immediately regenerates from Muramasa’s attack, and attacks him. Although before the hollow can inflict any more damage, Ichigo manages to subdue his hollow self and return to his shinigami form, but quickly falls unconscious at Muramasa’s feet.

Personal Opinion:

Beginning there was a considerable drop in the animation quality in the middle of the episode, although it didn’t particularly bother me so much since the episode in general was extremely good. It was extremely amazing watching the fight between Hollow Ichigo vs. Zangetsu, although I feel it was a bit predicted since it’s been a while since we last saw Ichigo’s hollow form, for example when he was regaining his Shinigami powers in episode 20 training with Urahara. Though I would have loved to have the hollow Ichigo fight some more maybe even fight Muramasa, it’s a damn shame that Ichigo managed. From to regain his conscious. It seems typical that the hollow form of Ichigo is the only thing he had going for him without Zangetsu of course. It’s easy to tell that Ichigo’s hollow self intrigued Muramasa so he will not kill him straight away. From the preview, it seems that Muramasa might try to convince Ichigo’s hollow to join him in the fight against the Shinigami, or something along the lines of that.

Overall, the episode I think was extremely good and the Zanpakutō Unknown Tales Arc continues to surprise me the strongest of Bleach fans, and the hater of nearly all of the Bleach fillers. Seriously, I feel that the Arc is going to be exciting as ever. The episode was extremely exciting I only had to watch the episode once to understand the episode. The fight scenes were in so much detail that it was a jam packed fighting episode. Especially the fight between Hollow Ichigo and Zangetsu is a battle must watch in my book. My overall opinion is the episode is a definite must watch in all counts, especially if your a dedicated Bleach fan this, arc seems to be far more interesting than all previous ones, you’ll be intrigued to watch it.
